Product review: Quinola Mothergrain kids’ organic and gluten-free quinoa range

This is my first ever food product review, so bear with my while I try to find my feet.

I’m a very fussy eater. Like very fussy. Like “I don’t like what it looks like on the plate so I’m not eating it” fussy. Yeah, I’m great to invite to dinners. Ha!ย  But seriously, the simpler the food, the more likely I am to eat it. And right now about 80% of our food I cook from scratch myself. Which is exhausting but is something I’m really proud of. Friday is our “junk night” a concept I have carried into my mothering days from my own childhood, but the rest of the week it’s fresh veg, protein and starch.

Of course there are days on the weekend when I’m far from home and I’ve forgotten to pack proper food and Rozalia is getting hangry (Hungry anger doesn’t suit anyone, but this girl gets mean!) So when I got the opportunity to review Quinola Mothergrain‘s range of kids’ Quinoa pouches, I jumped at the chance.

Quinoa is one of the healthiest and most nutritious grains you can eat so hell yeah I wanted to try this!

We were sent three different pouches to try:

  • Mediterranean Quinoa – with tomato courgette and carrot
  • Tex-mex Quinoa – with kidney beans, sweetcorn and tomato
  • Thai Quinoa – with peas, carrots and coconut milk.

What I liked about all of them were that they wereย  real food. The texture of the Quinoa, that you could see individual kidney beans, peas, carrots. When heated up, it didn’t turn into a puddle of mush but actually stayed looking like food.ย  It could be eaten both hot and cold and only takes 30 seconds to heat up thoroughly if needed, but can also be eaten cold. This makes it ideal for carrying in a purse on a day out.

They also stock a baby range, but the pouches we tried were for 3years+

I’ve never tried Quinoa before, have read great things about it and always wanted to try it.

And thank you for your concept of junk night. A good way to vary without loosing focus ๐Ÿ˜‰
