When all else fails…try reading the manual

Well, I gave myself till the date of my 32nd birthday to start my own blog and here I am. And hopefully, here you are. One other person reading what I have to write.

I have always wanted to write. From the time I could read, there was an inner assumption that I could write. And more importantly, that I would get published one day. But time, as most of us know, makes cowards out of us and over the years I have allowed myself to let go of that dream and keep it buried deep down inside while silently hating myself each day.

So when Kris, my other half, suggested to me in a very casual manner (as I moaned for the umpteenth time that I didn’t just want to write for the sake of writing)
“Why don’t you start a blog? That way, you’re kinda published, right?”
I almost hit my forehead with the palm of my hand.
DUH!!
Why didn’t I think of that? Silly creature that I am.

That was two weeks ago.

I gave myself till today to start this because I always set New Year resolutions to begin on my birthday, and this became one of them. It will consist of all sorts of things. Observations of my day, things I’ve come across on the internet, in passing with other people, anecdotes…you get the picture. Stick with me and hopefully, you’ll be entertained and provoked in equal measures.

As I celebrate my 11680th day on this earth, I’m hoping that this is the year I quieten that little voice that tells me each morning,
“If you love writing so much, why don’t you do something about it?”
So this year, here’s to doing something about it.
